In this exciting one-year contract
, we are seeking a strong and effective Manufacturing Technical Leader who will direct the activities of their department team.
Primary objectives are to improve our client's processes and eliminate waste.
Major areas of responsibility include ...
Direct and maintain the department, to achieve cost, quality, and efficiency targets.
Have a working knowledge of the equipment and process and work closely with support personnel to identify and correct problems.
Suggest, support, and implement cost and continuous improvement items.
Daily communications with Planners, Managers and other MTL’s to schedule production to support customer demands.
Develop improvement plans regarding labor efficiencies. Determine most efficient staffing levels for area of responsibility.
Have a working knowledge of the union contracts. Assign and monitor work accordingly.
Assure employees are properly trained and understand job expectations.
Maintain and comply with all TS and department procedures.
Assure productivity and cost objectives are met. Maintain employee records as necessary.
Issue and update, daily, schedules of productions.
Discipline, coach, and counsel employees as necessary. Direct contact with UAW &/or IAM.
Interpret contract and labor relations contract within area of responsibility. Ensure information is disseminated to all employees assigned.
Work with the Planners to maintain the P&IC/Manufacturing portion of the Sales & Operations Planning database. Establish target levels of finished goods inventory based on customer demand, manufacturing capabilities and inventory turns objectives.
Implement actions to reduce inventory through kanban quantity reductions, consignment implementations and write off of excess and obsolete inventory to meet planned inventory turns goals..
Requirements include ...
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TS16949, labor contracts, and Basic manufacturing techniques & equipment
Bachelor of Science degree in a related technical field or post secondary education
3-5 years of related automotive manufacturing experience
Effective supervisory/leadership experience in an union environment
